CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by President Howard Haston at 7:01 pm.

GUESTS    Gerry & Barbara introduced their grandchildren Daelin & Makayla.  Daelin introduced himself and said his car was a ’55 Chevy.  Jim asked him if he was married and “if looks could kill” was the response.

MINUTES  Motion by Red, second by Harry to approve minutes of June 8th meeting, passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT Jerry Heiss was not at the meeting, he gave the treasurer’s report via e-mail, showing no changes from the June report with a balance of $2,192.46.  Jerry has not yet sent the $250 approved to support the military.  Terry suggested that since most of us would be at the All-American show on Saturday that the club give $125 each to the USO and Operation Homefront.  Keith said he would swing by and get two checks from Jerry Heiss to present to the organizations on Saturday.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  Howard stated he will be returning to Japan for August, September and probably October.  He apologized for not being present and commended John for a great job filling in during his absence.  Howard offered to resign the presidency, but everyone in the room declined his offer and encouraged him to stay in office.

GARAGE MEETING  The June garage meeting was cancelled due to the large number of club activities in June.  The July 27th meeting will be at Muscle Car Alley at 2431 Auto Park Way, Escondido.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL  Norm and Howard attended the Car Club Council.   Elections of officers will be held at the next meeting.  Norm read off the list of candidates and a brief discussion was held.

OLD BUSINESS  Jerry and Betty Tormey have met all the requirements for membership, motion by Barbara, second by just about everyone else in the room.  Elected to membership by unanimous vote.

NEW BUSINESS  The club has been growing at a rapid rate and seem to have outgrown the Coyote Café.  As much as we love the staff, especially Kim and the great food.  Parking and seating for our group has become a problem.  Sunday we were at the Pit Stop in Oceanside and they have a large meeting room, much more parking and are located next door to the Oceanside Police Department.  Motion by Frank, second by Jim to switch our Business meetings to the Pit Stop.  Jim, Howard and Terry met with Kim to advise her that we would be relocating our business meetings to the new facility.

Barbara had flyers from the Home Depot on 76 in Oceanside for a car show in October.  The cost was $15 and the flyer said it benefited “Vets”, with no further details of who they were.  No popups were allowed and no tailgating.  She left flyers on the table.

CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Vice President John Wilkinson at 7:01 PM.  Howard is in Japan until June 19th.

GUESTS    Gerry & Barbara introduced their guests and prospective members Jerry & Betty (Blue) Tormey.  Jerry was at the last garage meeting.  Several of the members have stated they know the Tormey’s and that they have a beautiful white ’40 Ford coupe with ghost flames and would be a great addition to the club.

MINUTES  Motion by Bob, second by Red to approve minutes of May 11th meeting, passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT Jerry Heiss gave the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $2,192.46.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  John reported on club business.  Grape Day Park and the Fraker’s adoption celebration.  Ariana thanked the club for the gift cards and said they all got new bicycles with the cards.  Monique also thanked everyone.  Their big sister Jasmine was away at a cheerleader competition.  The club was able to give each of the three girls a gift certificate for $100.  Thanks to Gary & Laura for opening their beautiful home to the club.  We also had 4 members attend the Greatest Show on Turf.

GARAGE MEETING  The May garage meeting was at C & G Early Ford Parts.  Jim was not at the meeting, however John said they will notify everyone when a location has been selected.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL  Norm attended the Car Club Council.   Norm had very little good news to report.  It appears that our government is trying to kill our hobby by placing restrictions on our cars that would in effect render them museum pieces.  California EPA seems to think we are the cause of global warming and all the wrongs of the universe.

OLD BUSINESS

Beachin’ 101 Cruise, has been cancelled.  It was suggested we could do it like we currently do the Fall Mountain Run, where we just meet somewhere and cruise the Coast Highway.

Norm & John reported that Dewey Smith and the Poway Cruisers have approached them about co-hosting the Fall Mountain Run.  It was also reported that Marty from Dalton’s and Steve Waldron approached the club about getting involved with the FMR.  Jerry Heiss and Terry stated the problem with the run was it got way too big and the logistics of doing it with so few workers caused it to fade away.

NEW BUSINESS

Dianne is in the planning stages of a club picnic in July and a train trip to San Diego to tour the Midway in August.

Gary reported that Hot Summer Nights in Fallbrook is two Fridays per month.  He will provide more details and suggested we can alternate between Cruisin Grand and Fallbrook.

Norm has entry applications for the San Bernardino Route 66 Car Show.  It is $70, but is a 4 day event and they close the entire downtown for the show.  Something for everyone.

Terry received an e-mail from Jennifer, manager of The Neighborhood Cup in Aliso Viejo.  She invited us to her Sunday morning breakfast car show.  It was discussed this might be fun and then find a venue nearby for something fun to do in the afternoon.  They offer free coffee and 10% off price to exhibitors, plus an awesome trophy

TREASURER’S REPORT Jerry Heiss gave the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $2,568.16.  The Stansell’s were reimbursed for Christmas Party expenses.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL  Howard and Norm attended the Car Club Council.  They reported that just like last month’s meeting they seemed to be disorganized and failed to run the meeting in accordance with Robert’s Rules or the CCC Bylaws.  They “changed” the bylaws and will have an election in August with officers taking office in September.

GARAGE MEETING  The next garage meeting will be February 23rd at Terry & Bonnie’s.  The guest speaker will be Jimmy Chips who will talk about auto paint.  The January garage meeting was at the new location of Richards Performance Muffler, 1617 Ord Way, Oceanside, Ca.  Richard had tripled his space and increased the number of lifts.  We were treated to some great projects that they are working on.

OLD BUSINESS  Terry gave the report for the Membership Committee.  The committee prepared a presentation folder for new members Stan & Emily Wolfe.  It contained information about the club, a roster, bylaws, standing rules, website and webmail information and a photo roster of the members and their cars.  Gerry motioned to appoint a chair of the new “New Member Welcoming Committee”, motion passed.  Terry nominated Norm as Chair of the group and Norm selected Barbara, Keith, Terry and Carol Haston as his committee.  The function of the committee is to welcome and mentor new members.  Terry will prepare welcome folders and it was approved to authorize payment for printing and supplies.

Jim gave a report on the Beachin 101 exploration committee meeting.  John Daley presented his budget to the committee and indicated that he had received grants from County Supervisors Slater and Horn.  Kim checked with them and advised Jim that they required a 501 c 3 (non-profit) organization to provide money.  Terry stated he thought it was too much effort to go through the process of getting the non-profit filing, Jim said without the seed money from the county, we couldn’t do the run.  Jim reported that John used a service that did all the on-line registrations for a $4 fee for each registration.  The track required a deposit and payment for use of the facilities and special insurance was required.  There were many unanswered questions and Terry motioned to table, with Jerry Heiss seconding.  Tabled to March meeting.

The club will be the host club for Cruisin Grand on April 23, 2010.  May had already been booked before we were able to apply and will host in April this year.  Unlike the last few years it appears we will have the entire area to our club.

Terry presented information about the Linda Vista Parade on April 24th and Barbara brought flyers for the Heartbeat Car Show at Bates on the 25th.  These items will be discussed at the March meeting.

Terry had 4 Big 3 passes left which were passed out at the end of the meeting.  Motion to have Jim purchase 7 spaces for next year, passed.  Jim will get a check from Jerry Heiss to pay for the spaces as soon as he knows the purchase price.

OLD BUSINESS

Howard thanked Norm & Dianne for the use of their home again for the Christmas Party.  Huge success and due to the way the club is growing it was discussed that we look into the use of the meeting room at Red & Debbie’s mobile home park or possibly the Oceanside Elks Club for this years party.

Burger Run.  Final count was 586 registered vehicles, with another 100 or more parked around the perimeter of the venue.

NEW BUSINESS

Norm asked the club to support the Greatest Show on Turf in Balboa Park in June.  Each club is asked for a resolution to support the event and to either donate $100, register 4 club members cars at $25 each or provide two volunteers to work the event.  Any one of the three is all that is requested.

CARe Show.  Dianne has contacted the Best Western in Capistrano and they will give us a block of rooms for $77 each.  Great fun last year at the event and flyers were passed out to those who can attend.

Howard requested that all prospective members be given a copy of the bylaws and other information about the club when they turned in their applications.  Terry advised that he has tried to do that, but may have missed a few.  Howard asked about the name tags.  Terry orders them from B&K Engraving in Vista, they cost the club $6 each and Terry orders them after a prospective member has attended at least 2 club activities.  Howard proposed forming a welcoming committee with a package of information (bylaws, e-mail/web info, etc.) for new members.  Norm will chair the committee with Keith, Bonnie and Terry serving.

Jim stated he has met with John Daley about the Beachin 101 Cruise.  John is tired of doing it himself and has offered it to the club to take over.  John will stay on for this year, but then will bow out.  Jerry Heiss stated he was opposed to taking over the run due to the clubs history with the Fall Mountain Run.  Jim will chair a committee with Kim, Doug, Norm, Terry and meet with John to discuss all the factors of the run; cost, registration process, web page, etc. and then report back to the club.

Doug Jones made a presentation about the Sock Hop benefit for the Wounded Warriors this coming Saturday in Oceanside.  Many celebrities of the 50s and 60s will be there, dancing, food, and lots of fun.  They have requested a collection of special interest cars and several members have been asked to bring their cars to the event.  Those whose cars have been chosen to be on display for the event will receive free admission.  This is based on a list provided by the event organizers and they are very limited to the number of parking spaces.  Others can receive a discount by printing our the flyer and bringing a photo of their car.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL Norm attended the Car Club Council meeting with John & Howard.  Norm reported that there was some discussion about Motorhead Madness and All American Car shows being on the same day.  We will support The All American show as the proceeds benefit the military.  There was also discussion about the black California license plates requiring an extra fee to be able to display them on your vehicle and that they can only be used to/from events.  We need more information on that item and will research it before the next meeting.  Norm brought a handful of flyers for new events.

Not guests, but absent for too long were Tom Sr, Tom Jr. and his wife Sara.  Welcome back Fogles and don’t be strangers.

MINUTES  Motion by Jerry H., second by Howard to approve minutes of June 9th meeting, passed unanimously.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL Norm attended the Car Club Council meeting and spoke with Debra Medrano about assisting with a fundraiser car show for Rancho Buena Vista High School.  Norm will dialog with Debra to see what assistance they need from us.

GARAGE MEETING  Jim talked about his traffic accident and how lucky he was that he wasn’t on the freeway when it happened.  He was towing his trailer with the 53 when the rear leaf spring snapped and the car spun around 180 degrees.  About $13,000 damage was done to the beautiful car, but fortunately Jim was not injured.  The June garage meeting was at the Money Pit, outstanding meeting and great people.  Food was great and very reasonable prices (we got the senior discount).  Jim and Norm spoke with the owner and he was happy to have us and invited us back any time.

The July 28th meeting will be at our friends Jim Sr. & Jim Jr. Richer at their business Richer’s Auto Electric, 2372 Industry St., Oceanside.  One block south of Oceanside Boulevard.  Always great hosts and always a fun meeting whenever we are there.

EVENTS COMMITTEE  Diane reported on the picnic on the 11th.  Everyone had a great time and we all look forward to the next event.  Diane discussed the August event, a trip to Poway to visit Anderson’s Nursery and then caravan for lunch at the Hamburger Factory.  A September event is still in the planning stages to visit the Ronald Regan Library and stay over at a local hotel.  Terry suggested including a stop at the Pomona Swap Meet or visit to the NHRA Museum.  Other suggestions included a large collector car museum near the Regan Library.  More details next month.

OLD BUSINESS  Norm reported on the plastic signs.  Bob drove his 36 Chevy with the sign in the back window and after the meeting he will activate the lights and show how nice it looks.  Several other members are interested in buying one, depending on the cost.

Terry brought a wall plaque on loan from B & K Engraving .  One designed for our club could be given to hosts of Garage meetings, or anyone the club wanted to thank.  It would have the club logo, a short generic message thanking the recipient and a 5 x 7 photo taken of club members and cars at their facility.  Good way of promoting the club and a nice way to say thanks.  Motion to purchase 12 to 20 plaques (depending on where price break is) by Tim, second by Jerry, passed unanimously.

GOOD OF THE CLUB  Terry brought up the bylaws and suggested changing the word “modified” to “special interest”.  The current bylaws exclude any vehicle that is not modified and there are many good membership candidates who have very nice restored or original classics, but are not “modified”.  Jerry H. suggested we not drop  “modified”, but add “special interest”.  Second by Jim, passed unanimously.  Terry will update the ratified bylaws and post them on the website and have copies at the next meeting.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL Terry attended the Car Club Council with Norm and Terry gave the oral report.  Norm prepared a written report and had copies for the members present.  Discussion included La Mesa’s Cruise Night and how upset everyone was at the extra effort by La Mesa Police to make sure everyone received a ticket.  Cars were cited for loud exhaust, tinted windows, no front plate, etc.  This was after the Mayor and Chief of Police came to CCC and requested the cars return.  Cruisin Grand was also brought up.  Most were very upset about the changes in Cruisin Grand, except for one guy from the Miata Club.  Terry mentioned that several clubs are meeting at Round Table Pizza on Friday nights.

OLD BUSINESS

Tim mentioned Jerry Heiss’ letter to the editor about Cruisin Grand.  It was in the Thursday, July 3rd issue of the NCTs.  The final paragraph was altered by the paper to tone it down some, but the gist of the matter was obvious to anyone who read the letter.

CAR CLUB COUNCIL Tim attended the Car Club Council with Norm (in Diane’s Mustang convertible with the top down).  The Low Rider’s Council was there with some of their low rider bikes.  Norm and Tim stated the CCC wanted to join the Association of California Car Clubs, but the association is made up of individuals and not clubs.  CCC pledged $500 to pay for the first 100 members.  Tim and Norm signed up and brought applications back to our meeting.

LA Roadster Show is coming up on Father’s Day, Heritage Show on August 3rd, and flyers for other shows were presented.  The club will attend the MOPAR Show on July 12, as a club function.  We will meet at 6:30 in the Robinsons May parking lot to drive in together.  If we want to park together, we must come in together.

GARAGE MEETING  The May garage meeting was at San Diego Classic and Muscle Cars, 1155 Industrial, Escondido, on May 27th.    Everyone agreed that the meeting was a lot of fun and there were some awesome cars there.  It would be cool to visit there often.  Next meeting will be at Jerry Harder’s Oceanside Drive Line on June 24th.

OLD BUSINESS

The Ramona car show was held June 7th.  We had 5 cars and 8 members in attendance, Tim & Jackie, Bonnie & Terry, Jim & Carol, Red and Robert.  Met some nice members of the Christian Rods and had a relaxing day with great parking and a place on the grass in the shade with a cool breeze.

Terry reported that he had been contacted by members of three other car clubs expressing displeasure with how Cruisin Grand has changed and now encourages new cars.  Several of the clubs mentioned that they will not attend Cruisin Grand again unless the current management is replaced with the old management.  Consensus of the members was that there is a definite decrease in cars and an increase in the newer cars.  Corvettes, PT Cruisers, Chrysler 300 and newer Corvettes and Mustangs are appearing in increasing numbers.  There is also a large influx of “tuner cars” or “rice rockets”, with a younger crowd.  Jerry will send a letter to Escondido DBA to advise them of our displeasure and we will not attend any future Cruisin Grand events as a club.  Terry mentioned that he has been in contact with Barbara Fleming of the County Cruisers.  Barbara had been approached about having a weekly event at the Round Table Pizza in Vista.  Terry will contact Barbara and several other club representatives about starting something at that location.  Details to follow.

Terry received an e-mail from Carris Rhodes about the Rods & Woodies Show on June 19th.  We will all be parking in the Smog Only Center at 682 S. Coast Highway 101, starting around 5 PM.  The event starts at 5:30 and runs until 7:30 with live music, lots of restaurants and shops.  Hope to see everyone there.  Jim and Norm will call everyone to remind them of the event.

Frank Rosas has met the criteria for membership and only needs to submit his application.  Terry provided him with a blank application and Frank and Adriana were voted into the club.  Frank and Adriana have a 73 Chevrolet Impala that Frank is doing a complete rebuild on.  It is stripped to the bare metal now and the fun part starts.  Frank can use some expert help on his project, so get to know him and his lovely wife and offer to lend a hand.  Frank is active duty US Navy and is proudly serving our country.

NEW BUSINESS

Terry suggested that the club consider getting name badges to wear at club events.  It would make it easier for new members to learn the names of the other members.  The Christian Rods were wearing theirs on Saturday and Jerry and Sandra stated that they have them in the Over-The-Hill-Gang.  Terry will check prices at B & K Engraving and report back.

Terry received an e-mail from Matt Robins, Branch Director of the San Marcos Boys & Girls Club.  They have requested 3 to 5 hot rods for an hour on July 14th at the club.  It is “Hot Rod Racing Week” and they would like the kids to see some real hot rods.  Several members expressed interest and Terry will get back with Matt to get the details and report back at the next board meeting.

Jim Gerrard presented an idea for this years Drive the 101 event.  The club voted to have Jim and Norm proceed with their idea and contact John Daley.

OLD BUSINESS

Christmas party.  The club Christmas Party will be held at Norm & Diane Stansell’s home on December 15th, 6:30.  The club will cover the costs of the party for members and guests, however anyone wishing to be involved in the gift exchange must bring a gift.  We decided to keep the cost of the gift around $15.00, but Diane would like a more expensive gift.  Diane will mail flyers to those not at the meeting.

The Fall Mountain Run was held on Sunday, November 11th.  There were only 6 members and 4 club cars at the event.  Jim Gerrard and Norm Stansell had senior moments and forgot the run was this weekend.  Several others thought it was next weekend and several others were busy with family or personal projects.  There were approximately 40 cars that arrived at Dalton’s in the morning and we picked up a few more on the way to Dudley’s.  From Dudley’s we continued on to Julian where there were another 10 to 15 cars that had gone straight to Julian.  Most of the comments from those in Julian were positive and they seemed to have a good time.

We discussed the events of the Run to Barrett Junction Café the day the fires started.  Terry made it to the Barrett Junction Café, but the wind was starting to really blow and trees were shedding branches and it was getting very dark.  Terry & Bonnie tried to call the rest of the group, who hadn’t arrived yet, but there was no phone service.  A quick backtrack up the mountain and they were able to intercept the group.  We turned around and headed back to Dulzura Café, where we had lunch.  Fortunately the fire fighters were able to save both the Barrett Junction Café and the Dulzura Café.

Howard Haston asked about the progress on the new club logo.  Norm Stansell said his son Mark has been very busy and hasn’t had time to work on the design.  When he has some free time, he will draw up some examples.

NEW BUSINESS

Bob Dietrich said he saw Jerry Lee and he is doing much better.  He is really bummed that he can’t drive yet and is driving Patty crazy.  Terry Newman spoke with him on the phone just before the meeting and he said Jerry was in good spirits and can’t wait to get back behind the wheel.

FALL MOUNTAIN RUN COMMITTEE MEETING

The Fall Mountain Run Committee meeting followed the regular business meeting.

Marc and Sandra were not at the meeting.  Sandra gave Terry a written report on the status of the run and dropped off flyers before the meeting.  Marc has not attended the last 5 FMR committee meetings.

The written report stated essentially that there are no sponsors, no raffle prizes and only 12 pre-registrations.  Jerry had sent out begging letters for prizes and goodie bag stuffers with only one response.  There are no vendors lined up for the run at this time.

There was lengthy discussion about the Fall Mountain Run by the 15 members present at the meeting.  The membership was concerned that without major sponsorship, raffle prizes and manpower it would be difficult to put on the run and it could end up costing more than we take in.  Reviewing last years run, many of those present stated they worked both Saturday and Sunday without a break.  Club membership is less than last year with approximately 20 member families.  There was also discussion about the chancy weather in November and that if the event were rained out it could bankrupt the club and we would be left with a ton of food and no one to eat it.  Most attendees wait until the day of the run to register and not risk a rainout.  It was mentioned that when the Fall Mountain Run started, it was one of only a half dozen runs all year.  Now there are 6 to 10 runs every weekend and there is a run the week before and after the FMR at Bate’s.

Norm Stansell stated he was in the process of attempting to get sponsorship from several businesses he has contacts with in San Bernardino, however has not yet received any commitment from any of them.  He has received negative responses when he mentions Special Olympics as our charity.  They have had such bad publicity this year it is the kiss of death when asking for donations.  We have not had very good response from Roxanne either, except when she wants money with a day or two notice.

After 25 minutes of discussion, Diane made a motion not to do the Fall Mountain Run this year, seconded by Howard, vote was 14 ayes and one nay.  The 2007 Fall Mountain Run is cancelled

Terry will notify Marc Collins via telephone, e-mail RPM Productions and post the cancellation on the website.

The meeting was called to order by newly elected Vice President Howard Haston at 6:55 PM.  Terry Newman agreed to act as secretary for this meeting.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

Howard reported that at the December meeting there was a tie for the office of President and as such we do not currently have a president. The election has been continued to the January Garage meeting at the approval of the outgoing board at the December meeting.

Howard asked Terry to read an e-mail from Joe Walls.  Terry reported that Joe has resigned from the Little Guys effective immediately and will be parking with the Clairemont Cruisers at the Burger Run.  The club has accepted Joe’s resignation with regret and will welcome him back should he decide to return.

Howard had Terry read the list of appointed officer positions for 2007.  Several unfilled positions were filled at this meeting.  Mike Cooke agreed to serve as Club Historian, Sandra Heiss as Parliamentarian.  The list of appointed positions will be ratified at the February business meeting when the new president takes office.

Howard reviewed upcoming events.  The Burger Run is set for Saturday January 13th and everyone is encouraged to participate.  Terry will try to get there early and reserve a place for us to park together.  February 3rd is the CARe Show at San Juan Capistrano.  This is a benefit for the local animal rescue.  A group will meet Mary’s Restaurant (307 N Coast Hwy # B, Oceanside) at 6:30 for breakfast and will then caravan to the show.  Other upcoming events are Pomona Swap Meet on the 14th of February and the Big 3 Parts Exchange on the 23rd and 24th.

Flyers for the Burger Run, CARe Show and the January Garage meeting were passed out to the members in attendance.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Frank will turn over the treasurer’s books to Bonnie for the audit this week and Bonnie will get them to the new treasurer Jerry Heiss at the Burger Run.  There was no treasurer’s report.

OLD BUSINESS:

There was a discussion about the Fall Mountain Run.  The consensus was; there was very little money raised for the amount of work involved, only a small percentage of the club actually worked the event, many of those who have worked are getting burnt out.  A motion by Jim Gerrard was made to trail the discussion to the February Business Meeting where a decision will be made regarding continuing the Fall Mountain Run or dropping it.  An announcement will be made at the January Garage meeting of this agenda item and members will be encouraged to give their input.  Motion seconded and carried unanimously.

There was considerable confusion regarding who is current, who is behind in their dues and who is still a member of the club.  Terry Newman made a motion to wave questionable dues and make all member’s dues current to June 30, 2007, with everyone’s dues coming due on July 1, 2007.  Motion seconded and carried unanimously.

The position of Event Chair was brought up by Terry.  Howard agreed to assume that position as part of the Vice President’s duties.

The monthly business meeting with 15 members present was called to order by President Terry Newman at 6:40 PM.

The minutes of the August business meeting were approved by unanimous voice vote.

Terry Newman suggested in his opening comments that he felt the Club should have a Christmas party this year, the party should be a family affair and the Club should consider paying for a portion of the event with Club funds. A motion was made by Howard Haston for a committee to be formed to find a location and to provide the members with some cost estimate. Frank Lewark seconded the motion and it was passed by a unanimous voice vote. Bonnie Newman and Mike Cooke volunteered to find a location and come up with a cost estimate.

The cost of the annual fee for maintaining of the website for the coming year was generously gifted to the Club by President Terry Newman.

During discussion of the Fall Mtn. Run, Diane volunteered that she would be handling the required insurance forms, which need to be obtained from the San Diego Car Council and submitted to Bates Nut Farm.

Terry Newman gave an update on the Run to the 101, which was tentatively scheduled for April 2007. At this time, Terry reports a lack of interest on the part of the entities in the City of Oceanside and for all intents and purposes, the run is a dead deal.

August Meeting Minutes

The Little Guys Street Rods

President Terry Newman called the August meeting to order at 7:10 PM.

The August meeting agenda and minutes from the July meeting were reviewed and approved by a unanimous voice vote of the attending members.

Terry Newman opened discussion suggesting changes to the garage meeting format should be considered to generate more member involvement. Some things he suggested for consideration were to change meetings to Saturday mornings when more people don’t have to hurry home from work to attend or go back to meeting at member’s garages, since the number of attendees would now allow the previous format. The garage meeting format was changed when parking became a problem due to the number of attendees and the limited parking.

The need for establishing a call tree to determine the actual number of members was again discussed. Terry Newman said he would work on a phone list. Terry thought he had one available, but did not have it with him at tonight’s meeting.

Sandra Heiss gave a report on the status of the Fall Mountain Run. The following assignments are currently being taken care of by volunteers:

1 – Marcus Collins is pursuing CarQuest as a corporate sponsor for the run.

2 – Dan Bayard is working on getting raffle prizes from local vendors.

3 – Howard Haston will find a supplier for a color poster, make a mailing list and get more

flyers printed.

Jim Gerrard reported that he had been in contact with Jerry Goodman of the City of Oceanside Parks and Recreation Department as a preliminary action required for the Run to The 101. The Parks and Rec Dept. issues the permit for gatherings of this nature. Jim was informed that he would have to survey local businesses affected by any street closure and gain their approval for it. Jim said he had mixed results during a preliminary poll of some of the businesses. The Parks and Rec representative did not make how many negative responses are allowed before the event must be cancelled clear to Jim. Jim also reported that he was moving ahead with planning the event under the assumption that the Downtown Businessmen’s Association may not be of any assistance or may have disbanded by the time of the run.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:04 PM

The rules were put to a voice vote. One member abstained with the balance voting to approve the standing orders, as read.

An open discussion was held regarding how to provide food, beverages and door prizes at future garage. Frank Lewark stated that Sam Felliccia is willing to provide a catered meal at garage meetings for $8.00 per person. After input from numerous attendees, Frank made a motion to have Felliccia’s provide catered meals for the garage meetings and to have the club provide non-alcoholic beverages out of the money collected at the door. The motion was seconded by Marc Collins and approved by unanimous voice vote.

Jim Gerrard then made a motion for one dollar of the money collected at the door at garage meetings to go into a drawing. The winner must be present to win, must be a member in good standing and must have purchased a meal at that garage meeting. Any money not awarded at a garage meeting will be carried over until a winner is named at a subsequent meeting. The motion was seconded by Bob Dietrich and passed by unanimous voice vote.

Tentative plans for this years run are for a Saturday afternoon show at Camp Pendleton with a dinner to follow at the NCO Club on base. Navy Relief will sell beverages at the meet as a charity fund raiser for their cause. A planning meeting for the 2006 Fall Mountain Run will be held at Marc Collins’ home in Escondido on Monday April, 24th at 6:30 PM. Volunteers are needed and welcomed, according to Sandra.

4.) Bob Bryant will check with the Car Council of San Diego to make sure there are no scheduling conflicts.

The March monthly meeting was called to order at 6:50 PM by President, Terry Newman with eighteen members present.

The Minutes of the February meeting were read.  Marc Collins moved for the minutes to be approved as read.  The motion was seconded and approved by a unanimous voice vote.

The Treasure’s Report was submitted by Frank Lewark showing a beginning balance of $554.88 on February 28, 2006.  The balance as of March 14, 2006 was $630.  Membership dues of $105.00 and the sale of one jukebox for $20.00 accounted for the income during the accounting period. $210.00 was collected for meals at the February meeting to cover the $216.00 cost.  Other expenses were reimbursements for printing and misc. totaling $28.66.

Marc Collins notified the attendees of a meeting of the previous “Fall Mountain Run” committee at 6:00 PM on March 20, 2006 at Marc’s Castle.  The purpose of the meeting will be to schedule the formal presentation of donations to the selected charities and to critique the run.  According to Marc, all members interested in participating are welcome.

Marc Collins informed the gathered members of the resignation of Dewey Smith from the club.  Dewey is the current Vice President and was appointed as Events Chairman.  Filling of the vacant positions was tabled for a future date.

President Newman reminded the club of our commitment to be the host club for the Escondido “Cruisin’ Grand” event on May 5, 2006.  Members were also reminded that the Spanish translation of May 5 is cinco de mayo.

Bob Bryant attended a recent meeting of the Car Club Council of Greater San Diego.  The Council will present the “Greatest Show on Turf” on June 3, 2006 at the San Diego Auto Museum in Balboa Park.  The show will raise money for The Car Club Council and The San Diego Auto Museum.  Volunteers are needed.

Bob Bryant made a motion to provide a door prize to the “Greatest Show On Turf”, as requested by the Car Council.  The motion was tabled for action until after the May budget meeting.

Terry Newman requested for Bob Bryant to make sure the second weekend of November on the Car Council calendar is reserved for the “Fall Mountain Run”.

Jim Gerrard reported the following regarding the “Run to the 101" in 2007

 1.  No firm date has been established.  Attempts are being made to make it as early in the year as possible to complement the “Fall Mountain Run.” ( Prior to the Fourth of July.)

 2.  The Car Council of SD needs to be contacted to see what dates are open in 2007.

 3.  No event is planned for 2006.

 4.  Event will be put on by the Downtown Businessmen’s Association of Oceanside.  They have provided financial information from previous events to help Jim’s committee discuss the feasibility of being a sponsor car club.

Jim requested that discussions should be held to allow setting aside a portion of the proceeds from the event to pay for the expenses in sponsoring the following years event.  No action was taken on this item.

The controversy over the following board decisions were discussed at length:

1.  The club will not provide alcoholic beverages at garage meetings.

Terry Newman read a letter he had prepared regarding the legality of providing alcoholic beverages at club meetings.  This letter had been posted to the club website for all members to read.  The general consensus was that the majority of members, as shown by a show of hands at the February garage meeting, do not visit the website.  A motion was made by Howard Haston to mail each member a copy of the letter.  Joe Walls seconded the motion and it was passed by a unanimous voice vote.

A negative cash flow is resulting from the expense of food and beverages at the garage meetings.  The door prizes are declined or go unclaimed.  A motion was made by Jim Gerrard and seconded by Bob Dietrich to increase the monthly cost for the garage club meal to $10.00 and to use the excess collected to provide better door prizes.

A food committee should be formed to find less expensive alternatives to the currently purchased pizzas.  No formal action was taken.

2.  All club business will be conducted at business meetings.

Results of the club vote to conduct all business at business meetings was read by President, Terry Newman.  The vote to approve the amendment to the by-laws passed by a wide margin.  Joe Walls stated that the reason to make this decision was so business could be conducted in an atmosphere more conducive to open discussion. It had been discussed at garage meetings prior to the vote.

A motion to require the Garage Meeting Chairman to attend a minimum of 50% of club business meetings in a six month period was made by Jim Gerrard.  The motion was seconded by Marc Collins and put to a vote.  The results were 1 opposed, 4 abstaining and 13 in favor.  Discussion prior to the vote regarded the need for the chairman and the board to share information when scheduling club events.

Rick Bennett presented a letter to attending members for consideration.  The letter informed the club of a recent telephone conversation he had with the local marketing manager for Hooters Restaurant in Oceanside, CA.  Discussions at the club meeting considered having a garage meeting at the restaurant or having their staff participate in upcoming events.  No formal action was taken at this time.

Meeting was adjourned by President, Terry Newman at 8:45 PM.  Next scheduled business meeting is scheduled for April 10, 2006 at the same location.

Respectfully submitted,

Howard Haston, Recording Secretary

Treasurer’s Report

Frank presented the treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $849.66 in the club operating account and $8,042.88 in the Fall Mountain Run account.

Frank reported that the club is loosing money every month on the garage meetings.  In January we were short $65.22 from fees collected verses expenses for beverage and pizza.  It was necessary to transfer money from the operating account to cover the cost.  Raising the monthly fee for garage meetings was discussed, as was potential liability to the meetings host and the club if someone is involved in an accident after consuming alcohol that was purchased from the club.  Marc made a motion to leave the fee at $6.00 and to stop providing alcohol at the garage meetings, seconded by Jim Gerrard, passed unanimously.

Note:  Members may bring their own beer or wine to a meeting or may purchase it at meetings held at restaurants, but the club will no longer provide alcohol at any club meetings.

Frank requested the club consider prorating member’s dues to a single date for everyone.  Frank made a motion, seconded by Marc, that everyone’s dues would be prorated to July 1 and that the annual dues be changed to $36.00 ($3.00 per month) for ease in determining prorated dues.  PASSED unanimously.

The budget committee has not met yet, but will meet before the next business meeting.

Terry presented the auditor’s report.  The books were found to be substantially correct with Check #106, issued in February 2005, still outstanding.  The check was issued to John for his two spaces at the Swap Meet at Qualcomm.  It was recommended that the check be voided or reissued depending on the board’s decision.  It was decided to contact John and determine the status of the check and before taking action.  As of December 30, 2005, the balance in the club operating account was $554.88 and the balance in the club Fall Mountain Run account was $8,042.88.

President Newman announced that 25 members had pre-registered for the Pepper Tree Burger Run on Saturday, January 14.  The club will pay the $10.00 entry fee for those who show up to participate.

Old business -

According to member Jim Gerrard, the club has been contacted to participate in or sponsor the Highway 101 Car Show in Oceanside.  Jim has volunteered to gather information regarding the amount of involvement required and a tentative date for the event.  Jim will report his findings at the next business meeting.

President Newman stated that there is a concern regarding what to do with members who are in arrears on their dues.  It was decided to give written notice to members who are over 90 days past due on paying their dues.  If dues are not paid, the members will be considered inactive and dropped from the membership roll.

New business -

There will be 6 business / shop meetings and 6 “garage” meetings in 2006.  George Belsky has already planned the January and February garage meetings.  By unanimous voice vote, the attending members of the business meeting voted to hold the March and April business / shop meetings at Sam’s Restaurant in Vista.  Problems with parking in local neighborhoods and the group being too large for private homes during inclement weather were discussed.  These are concerns arising from the increasing size of the club

President Newman requested the members of the “Fall Run” committee meet and discuss the future plans for the event and report the results at the next business meeting.  Less than half of the club members participated in a recent vote to decide the future of the “Fall Run”.  Of those participating 14 were against and 11 were for a 2 ½  day event with 2 having no opinion.  The committee is to discuss their plans and return with a consensus that can be voted on by the club.

Mike Cooke suggested considering 2 days vs. 2 ½ days.

Discussion surrounding the possibility of increasing the cost of garage meeting food and beverages was discussed, but tabled for a future meeting..

A budget committee was formed to prepare a Treasure’s report at the February business meeting.

The committee consists of Terry Newman, Frank Lewark, Bob Dietrich and Jim Geraud.  An audit of the club treasury will be conducted by Bonnie Newman.  The exact status of the proceeds from the “Fall Mountain Run” and the balance of club funds are not known at this time, based on the outgoing treasurer’s last report.

The meeting was adjourned by President Newman.
