FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Downtown Business Association of Escondido

Press Release

.....

Business Association Announces Changes For 2008 Cruisin Grand

Escondido, Ca- February 11,2008 The DBA is pleased to announce today a renewed title sponsorship form Kragen Auto Parts as Cruisin Grand kicks into high gear for the 2008 season.

In addition to Kragen renewing their title sponsorship approximately 90% of the additional sponsorships have been reserved for the 2008 season.

Cruisin Grand returns to Downtown Escondido with exciting changes put in place to bring more visitors to downtown Escondido.

There will be NO changes to the original classic car area on Grand Ave. This will continue to be designated for pre 74 American cars.

One of the classic car awards this year will be designated the Kent Waldron Memorial Award and Steve Waldron will be choosing the winner of this award each week.

Maple Street, next to the "At the Hop" entertainment area at Bank of Escondido, will be closed for more Classic Car parking, 6 - 9 pm., from Grand to the alley.

Classic Car Corral¨ for the sale (by owners only) of Classic Cars (1974 and earlier, American-made). The Classic Car Corral will be located in the two private parking lots between Comerica Bank and Grand Professional Building. The lot will not open for Classics to park until 6 pm. No other vehicles will be allowed to park in this area, but this will open up more Classic parking on Grand Ave

Car Awards Ceremony is restructured to invite the winning cars to return the following Friday for a reserved spot in the Awards Area for the entire evening, followed by their award presentation by our sponsors. Steve Waldron, Cruisin Grand's car advisor and co-founder, will conduct the interviews with the winners with Awards being selected by our Title Sponsor, Awards Night Sponsor, Visiting Dignitary or City Official, Featured Car Club representative, and Steve Waldron. The DBA hopes this will bring more attention to the winners cars, eliminate the rush to select all the winners in time for the ceremony, and allow the ceremony to take place on time.

Major Sponsors booths on N. Broadway have been added at the request of returning sponsors. Four to five booths will be located on the west side of N. Broadway, reserved for the Cruisin Grand Grand Sponsors.¨ The DBA Cruisin Grand information booth and the Cruisin Grand T-shirt booth will also be there. New this year is the approval for Sponsors to conduct sales from their booths.

N. Kalmia Auto-oriented vendor area starting in June and continuing through August, N. Kalmia will be closed to traffic and parking from Grand to the alley, to bring in local auto-oriented businesses that want to sell their products to the attendees at Cruisin Grand"· At the suggestion of cruisers who recommended this as a means to add something new to the event, the DBA will give this area a a trial run¨ in 2008.

"Special Attraction¨ Area west of Escondido Blvd that will bring in new customers and visitors to the downtown business district and to Cruisin Grand. This area will be reserved for one night only for non- American Car Clubs, e.g. Porches, and Ferraris, or newer American Classics like Corvettes and Mustangs. Also specialty vehicles e.g. desert vehicles, drag boats, or vintage travel trailers will be invited to sign up for a special night. The area will be from Escondido Blvd. to Orange Street, and will be posted NO PARKING for other vehicles from 4 to 9 pm. This area of Grand has not been utilized by Classic Cars for a number of years, and the Special Attractions will add activity and customers to the businesses on the two blocks west of Escondido Blvd.

Concert on the Green 1 Friday night each month during Cruisin Grand on the lawn at Washington Mutual Bank at the corner of W. Grand and Orange St. There will be a free concert from 7:30 to 9 pm, featuring live music for the enjoyment of our visitors and residents. Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. Enjoy the "Special Attraction¨ area and the fun onstage!

Friday Nights at Cruisin Grand will feature the 50th Anniversary of the Hula Hoop, with 50 Hula Hoops ready for a twirl; the 50th Anniversary of Motown; a 50s- 60s Costume Contest; Bubble-Gum Chewing Contest; and Shake-a-Tail-Feather Night. Also in the line-up are Willys Night, Slab Night, Military Night, Pick- Up Night, Beach Cruiser Night, Packard Night, Fire Truck/Classic Squad Car Night, Classic Chevy Night, and much more. Cruisinˇ¦ Grand bigger Specialty Nights e.g. AFX Night, Nitro Night, and Sprint/Midget Car Night are also in planning stages.

Check the Downtown Business Association website (Cruisin Grand page) in March for the finalized dates. www.downtownescondido.com
