Jim Gerrard in a fender bender.

Jim was returning from showing his Cushman Scooter to a potential buyer and was towing it with his '53 Chevy.  Rather than get on the freeway right away, Jim decided to swing by Terry Newman's house to check on the progress on Terry's 41 Olds.  As Jim was heading up North Santa Fe (and not Highway 78), a rear leaf spring broke and caused the broken rear spring to dig into the pavement and the car to rotate.  The front end struck a sign post damaging the front bumper, headlight assembly and right front fender.  The broken rear end damaged the rear fenders.  Fortunately Jim was uninjured and there were no other vehicles involved.  Jim had taken the Chevy in for some work on the rear springs a short time ago.  I guess they got a little over zealous in their labors and may have cause the spring failure.  The car is in the shop now and will be back on the road, good as new, soon.

Welcome to our Web site!

The Little Guys Street Rods is a group of guys & gals from North San Diego County that share a common interest in the building, driving and showing of modified pre 1974 cars & trucks and Muscle Cars.  We have been an active club since 1977 and enjoy building and driving our vehicles to rod runs and car events all over southern California.  Thank you for visiting our little place on the web, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, comments or would like to attend a Little Guys meeting or event.  We are always looking for good new members interested in a family oriented car club.  If your building a car and have any questions, we have centuries of combined experience and love to share with others with similar interests.

Sandra, we all love you!

Thanks to Tim for the great calendars.

Norm & I met a very dynamic young lady at the last Car Club Council meeting who has taken volunteerism to a new level.  Her name is Stacy Matseas and she is a volunteer with the American Cancer Society and has been extremely active in raising money for Breast Cancer research.  Stacey also is involved in a program that provides transportation for cancer patients to doctors appointments and other activities.  Stacy made a presentation at the CCC meeting in hopes of getting volunteer drivers.  Consider donating some of your time and give a ride to a patient in your hot rod or even in your door slammer.  There is a need everywhere for drivers and for donations to cure this horrible disease.  Click on the banner above to visit Stacy's website.  There is a link on her page to make a donation to breast cancer research.

Fall Mountain Run #26

FREE

No registration, just show up.

November 8, 2009

We will depart from Dalton's at 9:00 AM so be there in time to meet with old friends and new for a great day.

We plan to do the 2009 Fall Mountain Run just like we did in 2007 and 2008.  There is no charge to participate, it is open to anyone who would like to drive their car or truck on a scenic road trip from San Marcos to Julian.  When you get to Julian you are on your own, have lunch in one of the historic restaurants, grab some pie at Mom's, tour the old gold mine, ride one of the horse drawn carriages, visit the many specialty shops and check out all the cool cars parked all over town.  Don't forget to stop at Dudley's on the way up the mountain and get some of their great bread and visit their gift shop.

Hope to see everyone there.

Friends gone but never forgotten

The Little Guys are heartbroken to report that our own Sandra Heiss passed on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.  Sandra and Jerry Heiss are true friends to all of us in The Little Guys.  They are also members of The Over The Hill Gang and have been close friends for many years.  Sandra chaired the Fall Mountain Run several years and served on numerous committees.  She is our current Vice President and Parliamentarian and couldn't say "no" to anyone asking for help with any project.  I have so many great memories of time spent with Sandra and Jerry; Cruisin Grand, Fall Mountain Runs, dinners, club functions and cruises. Our hearts go out to Jerry and his family for this huge loss.

Sandra we all love you and will miss you.

Sandra Ann Heiss VALLEY CENTER -- Sandra Ann Heiss passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Sandra enjoyed many interests including the Padres, Wild Animal Park, RV'ing, "Sisters in Crime" writers group, and The Herbal Society. She held leadership positions with two local street rod clubs: Over the Hill Gang, North County and The Little Guys. She also was on the Fall Mountain Run committee for several years and chaired it twice. Sandra was a devoted mother and grandmother, both to her immediate and extended families. She was in all regards, a great lady, who is sorely missed. She is survived by her husband Jerry, their children, Shelly Carlin, Amy, Nancy, Steve and Tim Heiss, her grandchildren, Alex, Abel, Zach and Kyle Heiss, Aaron Dial, and Kaitlyn Carlin, the joy of her life. There will be a private Celebration of Life at a future date.

Letter from Jerry Heiss

June 19, 2009

Dear Tim:

You asked me to let you know if we decided to have a Celebration of Life for Sandra.  Shelly and I, after consulting with some close friends and in keeping with Sandra’s wishes, have decided to have a small intimate gathering of family and close friends.  I know that all of “The Little Guys” wish us the best as we struggle with our loss.  Please let them know that Shelly and I appreciate their support and prayers.  In the mean time, if the club or any members would like to do so, a small donation in Sandra’s name to either The American Cancer Society or The American Diabetes Society would be a wonderful tribute.

Sincerely,

 Jerry Heiss

Please bring your own meat to barbeque and bring a side dish to share.  Paper plates, napkins and cups will be supplied.

You will need to bring lawn chairs, easy ups and or blankets.  There are a few picnic tables, but not enough for a huge crowd.  If you have folding tables please bring them.

We will have tables set up to play dominos.  We will have croquet, horse shoes and other picnic games.  If you will please R.S.V.P. to Dianne Stansell she is planning some activities for the little kids.  We will need to know how many kids to plan for.

This is going to be a fun relaxing day to visit and get to know each others families.

Dianne
